7. Describe symptoms and outcome (died, recovered, etc.).

The following was initially reported: A Rock pigeon was brought to the Atlantic Veterinary College Wildlife Service by the PEI Department of Fish and Wildlife on June 22, 2018. It was found in a parking lot at x. It died shortly after arrival, while seizuring. Avitrol poisoning is suspected. The pigeon was submitted to the Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative for a necropsy. Crop contents were collected to test for Avitrol poison contents. Results are pending.The following update was received: A Rock Pigeon was found in a parking lot on x, x, PE. It was picked up by x - PEI Fish and Wildlife on June 22, 2018 and brought to the x, where it died shortly after arrival. The crop content of this pigeons tested positive for Avitrol (bird control product) which confirms a state of avitrol toxicosis. The following was reported: The active chemical in Avitrol, 4-Aminopyridine, is known to cause seizures and neurological deficits in birds consuming it which likely explains the sudden death of this pigeon.
