3 bait sites set out by the Government of Alberta for wolf reduction under the caribou plan were checked. Numerous deceased animals were found on June 8, June 27, July 24, July 28, and July 29 in 2018. A complaint was made under the Report A Poacher program and is being actively investigated by two Fish and Wildlife officers in Alberta. Investigation related to possible improper use/removal of strychnine.

The first bait site was explored on June 8, 2018 where the remains of two foxes were found in an open meadow. This site was accessed again on June 27, 2018 to check in the adjacent timber. Another deceased fox was found. On July 24, 2018 a different site was accessed (area was flooded) and part of a deceased fox was discovered. On July 29, 2018 a consumed fresh fox was found at the original site (which was not present in the month prior) .

Another raven was found. On July 24, 2018 a different site was accessed (area was flooded) and a raven was discovered. On July 28, 2018 at a bait site in a remote part of the Little Smoky River, numerous ravens were found. On July 29, 2018 at the original bait site, a couple of ravens (which were not present in the month prior) were found deceased.
