On August 29 2017, the Manitoba Sustainable Development received a phone call from a landowner on (location), stating that on August 6 2017, it was noticed that several thousand crayfish washed on shore. On August 6 an aerial spray plane was noticed spraying the canola field south of his property on the east side of (location). The landowner also indicated that there was a different spraying event a week later on the opposite side of the lake, but is unaware of the any further die off. On August 30 2017, an officer of the Manitoba Sustainable Development went to (location) Lake and spoke to 2 different land owners on opposite ends of the lake, who confirmed seeing crayfish crawling up on the shore as if to get out of the water and several more dead ones washed up on shore. One of the two landowners confirmed ordering the spray and said the product used was Coragen.
