7. Describe symptoms and outcome (died, recovered, etc.).

There were a total of 15 colonies in the bee yard. There were 9 affected colonies. There were between 501 and 1000 dead bees per colony observed outside the hive. Bees were actively foraging at the time of the incident. Dead bees had pollen on their legs.Some hives seem low on bees after affected. Bees died. Hives are used for demonstrations so daily observations are made.Adult bee symptoms included being aggressive/shaking/trembling, twitching and crawling. Additionally, stingers were out with venom dripping. Brood symptoms included dead larvae/pupae on bottom board and dead larvae/pupae outside of colony. Additionally, queens seem to be slow laying.1 - Sample of pollen taken from unaffected hive, unaffected pollen comb had positive detects for Picoxystrobin. 2 - Samples of live bees taken from unaffected hive, unaffected live bees, had no detected active ingredients. 3 - Sample of pollen taken from affected hive, pollen comb from affected hive had positive detects for picoxystrobin, propamocarb , pyraclostrobin, thiacloprid, and thiamethoxam. 4 - Sample of dead bees taken from affected hive, composite dead bees from yard had positive detects for pyraclostrobin and thiabendazole. 5 - Samples of vegetation taken from corn tassels from field had no detected active ingredients. The weather at the time of the incident was sunny, 24C. Prior to the incident, there were an average of 10 frames of bees , 5 to 7 frames of brood, and 2 frames of pollen. The following pests were present in the affected bee yard in the past year; sacbrood, chalkbrood and varro a mite. After the incident, there were an average of 10 frames of bees, 5 to 7 frames of brood, 1 frame of honey and 2 frames of pollen. Additional food sources provided to the bees included sugar syrup and pollen supplement. In 2012, the following treatments were applied to the hives: oxalic acid and amitraz. In 2013, the following treatments were applied to the hives: antibiotics. Information on crops located near the beeyards: 100 ac of soybean;100 ac of soybean was 5 m from the beeyard;100 ac of corn was 500 m from the beeyard; 200 ac of soybean was 5 m from the beeyard;100 ac of wheat was 500 m from the beeyard;100 ac of hay was 500 m from the beeyard.Information on crops located near the beeyards: 100 ac of corn was 500 m from the beeyard. Bee kills were noted in two yards about 500 to 1000 dead bees in front of the hives between Friday Aug 9 and Monday August 12. The bees appear to be recovering.
