1-24419050- The reporter, a pet owner, indicates her animal may have been exposed to a pesticide containing the active ingredient metaldehyde. The pet owner reports her two year female nine pound mixed breed dog was left unsupervised for four hours one week ago. The pet owner stated she had applied the product to planters the animal had access to. No exposure was observed. When the owner returned home after leaving the animal alone she found the dog having seizures. The animal was brought to the veterinarian where anticonvulsants were given and the veterinarian during questioning of the owner had mentioned snail baits can cause the SXS seen. The pet owner reported the animal had died. The pet owner posed several questions about the product mainly concerned about the health of her remaining animal. No further information is available.
