1-23646563- The reporter, a pet owner, indicated her animal was exposed to a pesticide containing the active ingredient metaldehyde. The caller indicated her eight year ten pound Chihuahua dog had ingested approximately ¿ cup of the product within two hours of the initial contact with the registrant. The reporter indicated her dog had developed jerking muscular movements and was having difficulties walking. The caller did not clarify how the exposure occurred (application, access to the package, or otherwise). The caller was advised to seek immediate veterinary care. She was advised of signs seen following large ingestion, standard treatment protocols and prognosis. The caller was reached on routine call back three days later and she reported her veterinarian attempted to treat her dog (unspecified time frame and treatments) but the animal had died. No further information is available.
